SUMMER GARDEN

Summer Garden was inspired by the passing of my beloved mum. We were deeply connected as I cared for her through her journey with Alzhemier's disease. Her death was a profound experience and as a way to deal with the loss I felt compelled to create something that connected me to her. Thus the Summer Garden came into bloom. Her garden was a place that she cherished and in which we spent many happy moments, drinking tea, listening to the birds and feeling the sun on our skin. The flowers in her garden disappeared with her but they live on and remain vibrant in this artwork.

EDEN SERIES

The Eden Series was a development of the Summer Garden where I embraced a larger scale, greater complexity and a more imaginative approach - a response to seeking joy and light through colour and creation during a challenging time. I am drawn to using a hyper-bright colour palette as a way to bring more light to the world.

SUMMER GARDEN 2ND EDITION

In my search for green fabric for my next canvas I was gifted a huge 7m x 7m drape in the perfect green!

I took this as a sign that I was to make a much larger piece for my next Summer Garden edition. This is currently a work in progress as I figure out how best to do this since it simply won't fit in my current studio space. I have been testing out how many pieces I will need to put this together and am looking forward to bringing this to fruition.
